anthropologia

This is just a brief news report that a bit of the old anthro community was spotted online this past week, thanks in part to this post from the folks at Cultural Anthropology (hi Adam):

What would it take to make #AnthroSky what #AnthroTwitter was?— Society for Cultural Anthropology (@culanth.bsky.social) January 14, 2026 at 6:01 AM

Most of the discussion happened under this thread. Check it out, whether for old time sake or for ‘hey maybe we can start something new’ sake. Either works.

A lot of folks were discussing whether or not the ‘old days’ of AnthroTwitter could ever be again. I think there’s some agreement that those days are done and gone…but perhaps we can/should rebuild or just start anew (Tim E’s point). I agree with the latter. But, as I posted here, “Part of what we’re missing is *exactly* what we’re all doing in this thread folks! Just sayin.” In many ways, we are the community (and practice) that we all miss and value.

Onward, anthropology community.
